Engineering Education Research Center

The EERC at WSU advances research about engineering education in all its contexts and promotes a culture of research-informed teaching and learning. We foster collaborative interdisciplinary research teams, support grant writing, and offer professional development for faculty members, graduate students, and postdoctoral scholars. Center Initiatives

Reading group

Each month, in partnership with the VCEA Community Leadership Council, we hold a lunch gathering to discuss an engineering education research paper. The paper is circulated several weeks in advance in hopes that everyone can read it prior to the meeting, but anyone is welcome to attend even if they have not read the paper. The Spring 2025 dates are Jan 27, Feb 24, March 24, and April 28 from 12:00 – 1:00 in Sloan 146. Pizza and soda are provided. The reading for Feb 24 can be found here.

Annual Seminar Series

Each spring we host a thought-leader in engineering education research to share their work at WSU.

ENGR 581

Taught each fall, this 1-credit elective open to all graduate students covers a range of professional development topics not covered in other research methods courses taught in the college.

Engineering Science PhD program with focus on EER

PhD students can enroll in the Engineering Science PhD program and take a combination of education and engineering coursework while completing an engineering education dissertation. Contact for further info.
