Engineering Education Research Center

Research

Faculty and graduate students affiliated with the Engineering Education Research Center actively engage in research and scholarly activity to advance engineering education locally and nationally. Major areas of research activity include:

Design Education:  Developing curriculum materials and assessments that enhance design learning and productivity

K-12 STEM Education: Using engineering applications to enhance K-12 education in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics

Conceptual Learning:  Investigating student misconceptions and developing educational methods and tools to improve conceptual understanding

Research Experiences:  Engaging undergraduate students and pre-university teachers in research experiences to improve their understanding of engineering

For each of these areas, externally-funded projects combine with university resources to support research activity. Research efforts produce improved student learning, tools to support instructional effectiveness, measures of student performance, and educators addressing teaching and learning in a scholarly fashion.
