Engineering Education Research Center

Message from the
Co-Directors

Join us as we press on to deliver the "best undergraduate education at a research university!"

Dr. Maring and Dr. Davis (photo from WSU Mission to D.C.) As you may know, at Washington State University we pride ourselves in both our research and the quality of our graduates. As co-directors of the Engineering Education Research Center (EERC), we believe that educational research is the engine that drives outstanding educational programs. This highlights the importance of the EERC for engineering education, whether at the K-12 level or in higher education. Engineering education research is not "a nice add-on to other programs." It is vital to the success of our institution's mission.

We invite you to join us in the adventure of preparing people better for learning and practicing engineering in a global context. Together we can inspire today's youngsters for engineering and education careers. We can prepare graduates better to serve in a global society in which individual needs are important. Knowing how people learn, creating effective educational environments for diverse learners, and providing personalized guidance to learners enables aspiring engineers and educators to succeed. Then we all succeed!

We encourage you to explore this website to see what's happening in engineering education research at Washington State University. Obviously, there are more truly exciting opportunities for collaborative research projects than our new website illustrates. Hence, your creative thinking about what is significant and needs to be investigated and developed is crucial to the success of EERC. In addition, there are more funding sources germane to our research related to teaching and learning than the National Science Foundation.

Denny Davis and Jerry Maring, Co-Directors
