Northwest Engineering Talent Expansion Partnership
The main project goal is to increase by ten percent the total number of students in the State of Washington that earn an undergraduate engineering degree.
The Washington State University College of Engineering and Architecture in partnership with University of Washington College of Engineering, Seattle Central Community College, Yakima Valley Community College, Highline Community College, Columbia Basin College, and other institutions in Washington have formed the Northwest Engineering Talent Expansion Partnership (NW-ETEP, pronounced "northwest ee-tep"). The common vision to provide an opportunity for every student who is motivated and prepared to earn an engineering degree in the State of Washington.
To accomplish this goal, the NW-ETEP will implement a continuum of strategies on several fronts - targeting key student populations including untapped underrepresented populations at community colleges and involving numerous students, staff, and faculty at several institutions.
Objectives:
Over a five year timeframe, the NW-ETEP is striving to:
- Increase by 100% the number of underrepresented minorities that earn engineering degrees
- Increase by 20% the number of women that earn engineering degrees
- Develop and implement a statewide strategy to fully utilize the capacity of all the state's engineering programs.
