Engineering Education Research Center

National Community
of Engineering Education Researchers

In recent years the demand for research in engineering education has risen significantly. The call for attention in this area has been precipitated by the need to attract students to the profession as well as to adequately prepare future engineers with the required skills to build successful careers and ultimately give back to society.

The pace of technological change coupled with the need to think across disciplines is fueling research into new curriculum, delivery and assessment models. The growth in this burgeoning discipline is born out by the dozen or so centers nationwide with an engineering education focus. Morevoer, two universities -- Purdue and Virginia Tech -- are going one step further by formalizing undergraduate and graduate programs in engineering education.
